We've been busy putting the finishing touches on our zero-energy cabin, and we're really happy with how it's turned out. Compared to the "big show" of the walls and interior framing going up, this final phase of finish work seemed like it went very slowly. That might have something to do with the fact that most of the professional tradespeople have long since finished with their work, and progress depended exclusively on us.
With the North Cascades Highway still socked in with snow, the trip out to Winthrop from Seattle has been taking almost five hours. That doesn't leave us with many productive work hours when we drive out here on the weekends. Thankfully, we've managed to cross almost everything off of our list.
Perhaps best of all, our new beds, latex mattresses, and bedding sets were delivered by Drew from Bedrooms and More in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood. We chose solid acacia-wood bed frames and 100% natural latex mattresses. Combined with the Egyptian cotton sheets and duvets, these beds are super comfortable. All this gear was cost a bit more than standard bedding, but it was a real pleasure working with Bedrooms and More, and we are hoping our guests appreciate the extra comfort.
